The Reality of Working Abroad

magzin magzin

“The miles taught me courage; the solitude taught me who I am.”

The Dream Within

Working abroad once felt like a dream to me. Coming from a small town, I often imagined what it would be like to step into a bigger world—to explore new places, meet different people, and build a life beyond what I was used to. It felt exciting, freeing, and full of possibilities.

From a young age, I believed that living and working in big cities and metropolitan places meant discovering new opportunities—opportunities to showcase my skills, to grow through hard work, and to continuously learn along the way.

More than that, I carried a deeper purpose: to earn, to build a better future, and to support the people I love.

Every dream begins with the courage to imagine a life beyond where you are.”

The Unseen Struggles

But the reality of working abroad is not always easy. There are days when the silence feels louder, when you miss home deeply, and when everything unfamiliar becomes overwhelming. Being far from home means facing challenges without the comfort of someone beside you—and sometimes, that weight feels heavier than expected.

This is where the saying “Health is Wealth” truly comes in. There were moments when I got sick, and I had no choice but to take care of myself. In those times, I had to rely on my own strength—figuring out how to feel better, deciding what medicines to take, and turning to simple home remedies just to get through the day.

Living alone meant it was just me—doing everything I could to heal and keep going.

I call this my survival mode—a space where I had to be strong, even when I felt weak. Because when you are alone, survival is not just about getting through the day, but about finding the courage to rise again.

Behind every dream is a season of struggle that teaches you how to endure.”

Growing through the Journey

In the middle of all the challenges, something in me began to change. Every moment of uncertainty, every time I had to rely on myself, slowly built a stronger version of me.

I learned how to stand on my own, to make decisions with courage, and to trust myself even when I felt unsure.

Survival mode didn’t just teach me how to get through hard days—it taught me resilience. It showed me that I am capable of handling more than I ever imagined. The struggles, the loneliness, and the silent battles became part of my growth.

I realized that strength is not about never feeling weak, but about choosing to keep going despite it. And through every challenge I faced alone, I became braver, wiser, and more confident in who I am becoming.

Working abroad isn’t just a path to a career—it’s a path to yourself.”

The Truth

Working abroad is not just about earning or building a career—it’s about facing yourself in ways you never have before. It’s about the quiet sacrifices, the unseen struggles, and the strength you discover when no one else is there to carry you through.

It’s not always easy. There are moments that test you, break you, and push you to your limits. But it is also in those moments that you rebuild yourself—stronger, braver, and more certain of who you are.

Because the truth is, working abroad is not just a journey of distance… it is a journey of purpose.

And somewhere along the way, between the sacrifices and the courage, you don’t just build a life—you become the person you were meant to be.

The journey may be far, but it always leads you closer to who you are meant to become

Distance teaches you more than proximity ever could. In the journey of working abroad, you don’t just travel—you transform.”   A N A / anaexplore
